One of the bizarre aspects of Newcastle on Tyne's townscape is the juxtaposition of gee whizz 60's and 70's town planning with ancient buildings. This is the Holy Jesus Hospital up against a ferroconcrete underpass and Swan House.

Turning our gaze 180° (see D1010737) from the horrors of the Central Motorway East roundabout, we could almost be in a sleepy market town.
